Paul BRADLEY - Ger FITZGERALD - Yvon RIOU: Irish Music & Songs
Ger FITZGERALD: Vocals
Ger Fitzgerald is one of the exciting new voices emerging from the world of
Traditional song in Ireland. A singer since childhood, Ger competed successfully
at national competition level and was eventually invited to be a judge at the
same competitions in later years.
Paul BRADLEY: Fiddle Composer and player of Traditional Irish tunes, based for many years in County Galway. In 2008 Paul represented Irish fiddle playing at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend WA, USA. He has played at many major festivals world wide e.g. Drannouter Festival, (Belgium), Folk Est, (Italy), Vijlandii Festival (Estonia). With his band 'Dorsa' Paul toured USA and Europe on numerous occasions and he has been featured on TV and radio broadcasts in Ireland and abroad. Paul performed his poetry at Celtic Connections as a central part of the 'Singing Tree' (2007) for which he was commissioned to write. Recently Paul was featured in the book 'Tribes' (2012), a photographic tribute to the musicians and artists of Galway. This summer, Paul's comittments include a Fiddle Masterclass at Fara d'Isonzo in Italy (28-29-30 June), (plus concert dates in Italy TBC). He will play a concert at Traid Picnic Spiddal, County Galway on 5/6 July (date TBC) with uilleann piper Tiarnan Ui Duinchinn (winner of Sean O Riada piping gold medal, 2013). Paul will give Workshops and perform at the fiddle concert at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, Miltown Malbay, County Clare. He has been invited to teach fiddle masterclass at Tocane near Bordeaux in France from July 20th to July 27th. Currently recording an album of his own musical compostitions
on a violin of his own making, he will also include some of his own poems on
this recording. The album will feature guest musicians some of whom will be
already very well known to you and some of whom are fresh talents in the world
of Traditonal Irish music. Of his last solo album 'Atlantic Roar', a five-star review in
The Irish Times said :
Yvon RIOU: Guitare Yvon Riou est l'un des plus grands guitaristes bretons, les
concerts et les disques qu'il a réalisé avec, entre autres, Jean-Michel Veillon
lui ont valu le titre de guitariste de tout premier plan. Ses 30 ans de carrière
au service de la musique traditionnelle et de l'accompagnement de grands
solistes lui ont fait développer un style de jeu unique, reconnu et très
demandé. Il est aussi heureux sur les grandes scènes internationales que dans un
fest-noz rural se déroulant dans une cour de ferme. Il s'est produit dans le
monde entier, de Chicago à Ennis en passant par l'Allemagne, les Pays Bas,
l'Espagne, l'Italie,...On a pu l'entendre aux côtés de Ronan Le Bars, Gilles
Servat, Christian Lemaitre, Skolvan, Orion, Kristen Nogues, Sons of The Desert,
Pennoù Skoulm, Timmy Mac Carthy, David "Hopi" Hopkins, Dessie Wilkinson, Tony Mc
Carthy, Loar gann… Aujourd’hui, il joue en duo avec le
flûtiste J.Luc THOMAS et avec le groupe SLIGAN. Il se consacre également à
l’enseignement de la guitare principalement en accords ouverts (open tuning
DADGAD).
